Jazz Masterclasses at Mondomusica: Damiani, Del Fra, Rea, Trovesi

Cremona – The new Mondomusica exhibition area dedicated to jazz music will start off with a great events calendar and the participation of some of the most famous Italian jazz musicians such as Paolo Damiani, Riccardo Del Fra, Danilo Rea and Gianluigi Trovesi.

The four jazz stars will be the teachers of several masterclasses to be held from October 1 to 3 during Mondomusica, the most important exhibition for handcrafted musical instruments.

Gianluigi Trovesi, great clarinet and sax player, will hold the wind instruments masterclass; Danilo Rea, jazz pianist and founder of the famous Doctor 3 trio, will be the teacher of the piano masterclass; Riccardo Del Fra, double bassist and coordinator of the jazz department of the Paris Conservatory will hold the stringed instruments course, and Paolo Damiani, composer, conductor, double bassist, cellist and coordinator of the jazz department of the Rome Conservatory will be the teacher of the ensemble music laboratory. Four high level dates to bring jazz music to Mondomusica in the best way.

What these great artists have in common is the continuous research and crossover composition: Damiani explores new musical paths between jazz and Mediterranean ethnic traditions, Del Fra invents new combinations of jazz and contemporary music. Rea mixes jazz and the best pop music, while in Trovesi’s compositions we can find seductive baroque echoes. These different ways to play jazz music will give birth to four masterclasses of remarkable artistic and cultural value.

The masterclasses held by Del Fra, Rea and Trovesi will take place on Friday October 1 and Saturday October 2, 2010. They will be based on practical and interplay methods where teachers will perform with their students. At the end of the masterclass, every student will receive a certificate of attendance.

The ensemble music laboratory held by Damiani is scheduled for Saturday October 2 and Sunday October 3 and it is dedicated to musicians and singers interested in musical improvisation. The lessons will be focused on the different performing techniques of small and big ensembles.
