Mondomusica presents the artistic contamination of classical instruments and jazz music.
The nr.1 exhibition of the world for handcrafted musical instruments (next edition: Cremona, 1st-3rd October 2010) is thinking about combining two sectors that seem different but are linked by infinite artistic possibilities.
Cremona – Stradivari and Duke Ellington, or the excellence of violin making and one of the best jazz musician of all times.
Violin, musical improvisation and syncopated rhythm: this was the way already walked by Stéphane Grappelli, the Italo-French violinist who really began a specific musical genre with jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt at the beginning of the last century in France.
The two musicians founded the first non American international jazz band, the Quintette du Hot Club de France, but above all they have been the first who introduced an instrument coming from the classic tradition as the violin into a jazz ensemble: a daring choice that lead to great artistic results.
The transversal use of stringed instruments is one of the focuses of Mondomusica 2010, that will host an exhibition area and lots of events dedicated to jazz music. In this way Mondomusica will attract an always bigger qualified public and make two different universes (classical and jazz music) meet in Cremona. This project will bring violins, double basses, pianos and wind instruments closer to a musical genre that, since its origin, made the improvisation its strength point.
So Mondomusica continues on the way of the evolution that has lead it to be today the most important exhibition for craftsmanship musical instruments.
